When I sit down at the Piano, we become one. It's like talking to someone who understands how you are feeling when no-one else can. You can get rid of your worries and just relax, like hypnotism but you are fully aware of the emotions flooding through your body. I guess you could almost fall asleep when you just feel as relaxed as when you reach heaven! (Well nearly) It is the same for my other instrument - the Violin. Some people would call the Violin screechy when someone is fist learning and when you make a mistake. It is a truly beautiful sounding instrument but you just need practice like every other single instrument. When I play the Violin, we learn together and we feel the music emotionally. Swaying and facial expressions is how we show the world that we really enjoy how we feel right now in this exact moment in time. Well - not now but that is what we do. And I know it sounds weird to call a Violin and I 'we' but again, like the Piano, we become one.
This is why, if you ever play an instrument, you should really feel yourself when you play anything, whichever emotion you are feeling. If you are feeling plain, you need to get into the piece you are playing, lullaby, adventurous, suspenseful or angry, it doesn't matter which. Going to concerts are inspiring because the trained players really feel the tune, not one of them have a plain expression. (If they have no sign of emotion, then obviously aren't a proper player!)
Enough of the sad playing! When I am playing a happy piece, when I feel like it, I am not whole with the Piano. It's a bit like playing with your friends when you are a child, but if you're not a child then it's however you feel happy the most! You get into the mood so much that you can move and jump and show it through your smiling face.
